3 Simple Design Tips That Make a Big Difference

You don’t need to be a professional designer to make your promotions look better.

Here are 3 simple things I’ve learned from creating designs:

🎨 1. Don’t use too many colors.
Choose 2–3 main colors and let them work together. Too many colors can make a design feel busy.

👀 2. Make ONE thing stand out.
Decide what people should notice first — your headline, image, or message. If everything is big and bold, nothing really stands out.

✨ 3. Give your design some breathing room.
You don’t have to fill every empty space. A little space around your text and images can make the whole design look cleaner and more professional.

And one extra tip: keep experimenting. Some of my favorite designs came from simply trying something different.

What is one design tip you’ve learned along the way?

I agree with all three of these. 🎨

One thing I’ve learned from creating so many different designs is to design for the space you actually have.

A design can look great when it’s large, but once you shrink it down to a 125×125 square banner or a 468×60 regular banner, everything changes. Text that looked fine may suddenly be too small, and too many details can make the whole thing hard to read.

I’ve learned that sometimes the best thing you can do is simplify. Use a clear message, make the most important part stand out, and don’t be afraid to remove something if it isn’t helping the design.

And I definitely agree with experimenting. Some of the designs I’ve liked the most came from trying a completely different layout, font, image, or idea than I originally had in mind. 😊
